HURON PARK, ON - June 22, 2003

On Saturday, June 22nd and Sunday June 23rd the Bluewater team hosted their 2nd international competition on the grounds of the former Centralia Air force Base near Exeter, Ontario.

Amid pleasant temperatures, clear skies and keen competition, the event proved exciting for fans and competitors alike.

This year’s competition brought teams from Great Britain, the United States and Canada who took part in a broader range of events than on previous occasions. Both men’s and women’s classes were well subscribed and throughout the tournament it was evident that the Canadians were able to put together the necessary skills and expertise to successfully run an event of this magnitude.

Coupled to the international competitions, the Canadian teams were contesting this year’s “Canadian Qualifiers” to win the right to represent Canada in those weight divisions included on next year’s World Championship program in Rochester, MN (See the results on page 4).

Although all members of the Bluewater team as well as many community volunteers were involved in the many hours of hard work preparing the venue and the program, special recognition was paid to Coach Jim Connolly and team member Matthias Metzger at the closing ceremonies for their excellent leadership in putting together the two day event.
