CBC SPECIAL PLANNED FOR TUG-OF-WAR |
Toronto, ON - August 25, 2003 A special telecasting is being planned by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) in conjunction with the Peel Regional Police Ladies Tug-of-War team for their popular youth series entitled "POV Sports." Each Thursday at 4:30 p.m., the half hour program profiles professional and amateur athletes with an emphasis on young people's interests. According to Andrea Griffith, spokesperson for the show, the shoot will take place sometime in September and the show will air in December 2003 or early in 2004. The segment will be a general overview of tug of war and will include some instructional elements (the techniques of tug of war), what body type is ideal, what skills are needed, and why the sport is so popular with its participants. Interviews will be held with the coach, team captain and a few other team-mates.
