|
LONDON, ON - Jan. 2, 2004 Mr. Jim Connolly, National Coach for the Canadian Amateur Tug-of-War Association has put out an invitation for existing and prospective coaches of any Tug-of-War team in Canada to register for Level 1 of the National Coaching Certification Program (Course No. 78796) being held at Carling Heights Optimist Club in London, Ontario on Saturday February 8th and Sunday February 9th, 2004 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $92 CDN. For those who have completed Level 1 and wish to register for Level 2 (Course No. 78797), the cost is $110 CDN and the course is being held on March 19, 20 and 21, 2004 (Friday to Sunday), from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Connolly pointed out that at the October 5, 2003 meeting of Board of Directors of the Canadian Amateur Tug-of-War Association, a resolution was passed which stated that to coach a National Team (closed competition) at a World Championship event, one must have completed both the National Coaching Certification Program [N.C.C.P.]. - Level 1 (for all sports) as well as the CATOWA Coaching Certification Program [C.C.C.P]. To attain the latter, the Board further agreed to provide a coaching course and test for coaches, pullers or anyone interested to be held at the Embro Community Centre in Embro, Ontario on Saturday, May 8th, 2004. With the upcoming World Tug-of-War Championships being held next September in Rochester, MN., and the anticipated interest by Canadian athletes in participating there, coaches planning on participating in Rochester are required to attend this 1 day session to consolidate and unify coaching strategies for the international event. Registration forms for both levels of the N.C.C.P. courses are now available On-line or by registering directly through the Culture and Recreation Department at (519) 661-5575). Registration forms for the C.C.C.P. course may be obtained by accessing the Download Page on this website.
