WATERLOO SCHOOLS FEATURE TUG-OF-WAR
AT ANNUAL TRACK & FIELD EVENT

KITCHENER, ON - June 4, 2004

The Waterloo Region District School Board held its annual track and field meet on May 27th through June 1st at Centennial Stadium in Kitchener.  The event which has been a tradition in the region since the inception of county boards in 1969, is open to all grades 7 and 8 students from the 33 schools across the Region of Waterloo.  The schools are organized into four divisions according to size and the 8 schools in each division (9 in division D) compete in a wide variety of track & field events including tug-of-war.

During each of the four days of the tournament, the winners of the events were awarded ribbons for first, second and third place.  Those participants achieving first place were subsequently invited to compete at the county finals held on Thursday, June 4th.  For tug-of-war, this year marked the first time that tug-of-war had advanced winning teams to the county finals.
