1993 Canadian Catchweight Champions
Ellice Tug Of War Team
Pictured here are the 1993 Canadian catchweight champions, the Ellice Tug Of War Team. Ellice is a township located to the northwest of Stratford, Ontario. The 1993 Canadian Championships were held at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto, Ontario. Ellice went undefeated in the catchweight division to claim their first Canadian championship in any weight category. It also marked the first time that a team form Perth County had won the event. After many poor year s in the 1980's, Ellice dominated in the early 1990's. They won back to back Ontario Tug Of War Association season championships in 1991 and 1992. As well this event was the beginning of a string of four straight events in in which Ellice did not lose a single pull in competition. They went undefeated over the last four events to end the season. However, they missed out on a third straight season championship by 2 points, finishing a close second to the other team form Perth county, South East Hope.
